Syysresidenssidemo: Henni Kiri
La 21.11.
Klo 11:30-12:30
Esitystaiteen keskus, studio 4.
“KURU-monitaideprojektini avautuu Esitystaiteen seuran syysresidenssistä kohti vuoden 2027 syyskuuta, jolloin valmistan yhdessä valokuvaaja Tommi Mattilan kanssa Kotkan Galleria Uusikuvaan KURU – sururuumiin topografia -toiminnallisen näyttelyn.
Marraskuussa avoimilla lounastunneilla touhuamme harjoitteita/toiminnallisia ehdotuksia yhdessä.
Lounastunnit surun maisemassa klo 11.30–12.30
1) TI 10.11.
2) KE 11.11.
3) TI 17.11.
4) KE 18.11.
5) PE 20.11.
Jokainen lounastunti on erilainen, itsenäinen kokonaisuus.
Ars of Intimacy -esitys: Lin Da ja työryhmä
Pe 20.11., pe 27.11., la 28.11.
Klo 19:00
Oksasenkatu 11, galleria
Koreografi-kuvataiteilijan Lin Dan ja työryhmän Ars of Intimacy -esitys on luonnosmainen katsahdus tabuksikin koettuun teemaan, peräaukkoon.

“My KURU multidisciplinary art project begins with the Live Art Society’s Autumn residency and extends toward September 2027, when I will collaborate with photographer Tommi Mattila to create the interactive exhibition KURU – Topography of the Body of Grief at Galleria Uusikuva in Kotka. In this project, the body of grief, the physicality of the grieving process, and performativity serve as both the subject of inquiry and the starting point for expression.
During the Autumn residency, I will explore how to create a compassionate space for sharing the physical and emotional experiences and thoughts associated with grief. I will develop and experiment with somatic exercises focused on presence and grounding in the moment, as well as explore ways to work with various materials as tools for manifesting the body of grief. I hope to gain a clearer grasp of some of the kinetic and/or material starting points for elements of the upcoming exhibition. I invite fellow travelers and anyone interested in the topic to join me in experiencing and exploring the space of grief and the body of grief, and to engage with the suggestions I offer as a way to reach toward the experiential nature of grief. During the open lunch sessions in November, we’ll work on exercises and activity-based suggestions together. These sessions offer an opportunity to encounter oneself and others in a shared, supportive, peer-supported, and lightly facilitated space—a landscape of diverse forms of grief.
Lunch sessions are structured so that the exercise session or themed activity is fairly short—only about 30 minutes—after which participants can eat their packed lunches with me, and, if we’d like, we can chat about the shared experience and the thoughts it sparked while we eat. We’ll work in Finnish and/or English, depending on which language works best for the participants.
Lunch Sessions in the Landscape of Grief, 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
1) Tue, Nov. 10
2) Wed, Nov. 11
3) Tue, Nov. 17
4) Wed, Nov. 18
5) Fri, Nov. 20
Each lunch session is different and stands on its own. You can attend as many as you’d like, depending on your availability. No advance registration is required. To gain access to Eskus, please text me before you arrive, and I’ll send you the code to open the side door: Henni 0451207608.
Closing event of my residency period:
Join us for a Saturday brunch on November 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to explore the landscape of grief and discuss the thoughts this theme has sparked. I’ll start by giving a brief summary of the key findings from my residency period and “introducing the terrain,” after which I hope for an open dialogue.”
Ars of Intimacy -performance: Lin Da and working group
Fri, Nov. 20; Fri, Nov. 27; Sat, Nov. 28
7:00 p.m.
Oksasenkatu 11, Gallery
Choreographer-fine artist Lin Da’s and their working group’s performance, Ars of Intimacy, offers a sketch-like glimpse into a theme often considered taboo: the anus. This performance sketch highlights anal corporeality – the listening, pleasure, and carnality that arise from its backwardness. The work invites the audience to reflect on the various manifestations of intimacy through dance and corporeality.
Performers: Taru Aho, Nadja Pärssinen, Jussi Ulkuniemi and Vane Virta
Sound design: Jyri Pirinen
Supported by City of Helsinki
Autumn Residency Demo: Katariina Kannisto
Sat, Dec. 5
3:00–5:00 p.m.
Center for Performing Arts, Studio 4
“During this residency, I will be working on a method I have dubbed the ‘Boredom Research Laboratory.’ During the residency, I will explore boredom and the process of becoming bored—both on my own and with artists invited through an open call—as a starting point for the creative process and as a performative element. In the laboratory space, we will slowly settle into exploring the space, bodily presence, and the sounds and activities that arise from it. I will explore boredom not only through stillness and slowness, but also through repetitive actions, observation, and copying, as well as in relation to the space itself.”
