WHAT IS THE PERFORMANCE TENT (ESITYSTELTTA)?
The Performance Tent is a mobile contemporary performance stage that improves the accessibility of art and extends the life cycle of performances. The idea of the stage operating in a 4 x 8 m market tent is to offer a performance opportunity for both new and already premiered contemporary performances as well as artists from the experimental and indie music fields. The programme is curated through invitation and an open call. We want to create a space and an environment where artists' works do not compete with each other but support each other. Where art can find new audiences, new ways of being and structuring, in gentleness, mercy and sensitivity. We want to create a light structure that gives a platform for artists of the margin. A platform that offers support and enables experimenting on collective curation and new ways of presentation. Which nourishes continuity, community spirit and new connections between audiences and artists from different art fields. At the same time Performance Tent proposes new, more sustainable and lighter ways of production for the art field.

Curators of the tent: Veera Aaltonen, Rogério Nuno Costa, Silja Eriksson, Terhi Hartikainen, Miko Kivinen, Sanni Kriikku, Sonjis Laine and Lauri Antti Mattila
